Located on the south side of the Island,
these areas offer relaxed low-rise living. With easy access to some beautiful
beaches and surrounded by water, there is a fine mix of old and new, colonial
and modern properties available.
The
quaint charm of this region is enhanced by the Stanley Market which offers a
selection of shops and stalls selling various products, both modern and
traditional.
The
sea front at Stanley is home to many
restaurants and bars as well as a well-stocked supermarket, bakery and wine
shop in Stanley
Plaza. Stanley Beach is one of the venues for the
famed Dragon Boat races held during June.
An
efficient fleet of buses and mini-buses run from Stanley bus depot to the city
centre. These clean, air-conditioned buses take several
routes back to the north side of the Island,
some along the winding roads with magnificent views across the water.
There are no primary
or secondary schools in Stanley or Chung Hom Kok, but many of the students who attend the major international schools in Hong Kong live in this area. Most schools will have the Stanley
area on their school-bus routes. These include Bradbury
School (primary) and South Island School (secondary) which are both part of the
English Schools Foundation (ESF), Canadian
International School,
French International
School, and Hong Kong International
School. There are some pre-schools such as Sunshine House, Stanley
Montessori and Woodland Pre-School
in and around the area. To find out more about schools, visit ClassmateAsia.com http://www.classmateasia.com
